Have an older 2990, just aligned and works perfect in AM/FM modes except receive on SSB. Have to turn volume all the way up to hear anything. Was told to check d37, checked out fine. What else can I check, would like to get this radio back up to perfect shape.
Thanks

Which board does that radio have in it?
The symptoms can be caused by a dirty mode switch, or a failure anywhere between the crystal filter, (F3 in many RCI's) and the product detector. Lots of real estate there. Two can coils, a bridge network of general purpose diodes, and about 5 transistors,
I wish I could narrow it down a bit more, but I can't.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
