I am getting back into the hobby and wanted a dedicated base radio. I found a rci2990 for $250, is this a fair price and also any things I should be aware of with this radio.

Those are pretty nice radios, from what I have heard about them they are solid radios that perform very well.

I would think that is a fair price if the radio is in very good shape and has a proper tune and alignment done.......

I used to have the 2950 when they first came out. After a proper tune up and aligning it was a great performer.....the 2990 is basically the same radio as the 2950 in a bigger box

I agree, the key is that everything works and that it has not been hacked up inside. Also pop the cover and check the power supply, you don't want to see a hillbilly pyramid replacement dropped in.

Also NUMBER 1 thing to remember is if playing with the power settings DO NOT EXCEED 125 Watts PEP or you WILL cook the internal power supply ;)

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
