Do you see the S-meter needle move/receiving?
If so; then it is the mic.

Did you try to take the mic plug apart to the point that you see any broke wire(s) inside yet?
Easy fix with a soldering iron . . .

Let me rephrase .. .

Let's talk about how the needle behaves in receive (NOT keying the mic); does the needle move when the radio is hooked up to an antenna on a known busy channel in your area? You already said there is no audio; but does the needle move in receive w/o keying the mic?
If it does moves in receive; then it might be the mic not completing the receive audio circuit.

Now, back to the mic. You said you took the mic apart. I asked you if you disassembled the mic PLUG. This is where 99% of most mic problems occur.

Now lets talk about keying the mic . . .

Does the transmit indicator light come on when you key the mic?

It does; just take your time and be careful.
Talking about the plug on the end of the mic cable; not the plug in the radio.
#1 fault in many mics is breaking a wire or two in the mic plug.
Fixed MANY such problems in the past.
