Had to replace the clock in a old SBE Console, AKA Console I or SBE 8CB. The original is a Sankyo Seiki DT-F. Which, yeah, a little hard to find. Closest I could come is the Sankyo Seiki DT-F34. Which is pretty much the same mechanism with a different switch. Wired it in and... nothing. So I figured I got a failed one. 50+ year old used parts, can't expect too much. So I started looking into other issues with the radio.

Went looking for a no TX problem. Found that someone had dropped a solder blob that managed to bridge one of the legs of T5 and ground. Pulled it, TX started working. Cleaned the rest of that mess up right quick.

Started checking to see what lights are dead, which ended up being the channel indicator and power. Suddenly, the clock started working. All I can think of is that the multiple power cycles of plugging and unplugging the radio finally overcame whatever stiction the clock motor had built up and busted it loose.

So it failed initially, but is now a successful replacement.

Still have to replace those burned out light bulbs, though. Darn it.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
