Scratchy Unkey?

A friend brought over a 29LTD and says that when you unkey it transmits, and you can hear on the talk-back, a scratchy noise during the unkey. Just as if you had a dirty mic switch. I've tried a few different mics and on some it not as noticeable but on others it really noticeable! Its as if the radio is magnifying the unkey switching noise to the point of it sounding loud and scratchy.

Has anyone ran across this before?

I did check TR24 (the switching transistor, I think) and its good.

It's happened to me before but it was always the mic so I'm not sure.

I think I read somewhere that someone was having a noise when unkeying like a popping noise. Could someone shed some light on that one? It could possible be the same area.
