Shakespeare 176 big stick

I found a couple of bases (no tops) big sticks laying along the fence i forgot i had. I put one up and used a Francis 96" antenna and got a OK swrs of 1.5 to 1.7 on all 40. Is this normal for this antenna?

SWR numbers sound high to me - but I have nothing to back that up (yet).

The original upper half is a shakespeare wondershaft 1/4wave whip,

I have a 176-1 and I also have one of the base station version made for Radio Shack, the "Crossbow". My 176-1 has a regular 102" fiberglass whip for the top section.

Ill look for one. I tried a Frances 96" whip and swrs are crap
