Hey I was wondering if its possible for speakers to blow out in a radio due to a problem inside on the board somewhere?? I had a blown speaker then put in another internal speaker and a few seconds later no good. The speaker was a used or older speaker but before I try again I wanted to ask iof theres a possibilty there was an internal problem or if anyone has ever seen this Im thinking and hoping its nothing but the fact that the used speaker was also on its last legs.

Absolutly there can be a problem within the radio

1 speaker i would not be sure if radio or speaker
but if 2 speakers and you know 2ed speaker was good
then likly a short somewhere causing it

I can't see a short somewhere blowing a speaker unless the output capacitor in the audio amp is what is shorted and allowing DC voltage to flow to the speaker. That can kill it in short order. Remove the speaker and try it with a meter across the speaker leads. You should see no DC voltage at all.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
