I’ve got a new 955 plus never used that I won in a raffle.. is worth doing an NPC mod ? If so , does this new radio carry the same board as the older version ? If everything is the same beside some minor changes , is the location for the mod the same ?

955+ is a totally different radio inside than the original 955. The 955+ is all Anytone inside and is SDR based, meaning it has no internal adjustments. Everything is done through the regular and service menus.

Didn’t even know that, service menus ? You mean with software ?

You mean with software ?
Yes. There is a main menu accessed from the front panel, but many of the adjustments are in a "service menu" which is not intended to be user-accessible, but the way to access them can sometimes be found online. These radios can also be custom configured by the user using what is called "programming software". Each radio model and variant has it's own programming software. With the software you can set up the channels however you want and do a bunch of other cool stuff. The software is run on a computer and you connect the computer to the radio with the supplied special cable.

WARNING: You can destroy the radio messing with the values in the service menu. If you don't know what you are doing stay away from it! There are people here on this very forum who have "bricked" brand new radios messing in the service menu.

Yes it comes with a cable, the only thing I want to do is mod to 11 meters.. there’s no jumper to cut like the anytone IMG_6368.jpegIMG_6369.jpegIMG_6370.jpeg

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
