SWR meter does not seem to function on my orig Cobra 148 GTL

Could someone explain the passable reasons for my swr meter not working, it stays real low on the meter. Should it move when TXing or RXing? I have not been able to test, and since the radio has been ignored for a while, i just got it from my father, and he has not used it for a long time, i doubt the radio is broken since he took real good care of it.

I plan on pulling it out and giving it a try

If your carrier power is set to low It will not work properly.

Raise your carrier power to above 3 watts and it should start working properly. IF you need the low dead key install the dial a watt. Its a variable power switch.
