I have a 250 dx and it will not rec unless you turn on rec amp like it goes dead when you screw coax on like you dont have a coax hooked up i replaced the relay did not help
 

Unscrew the ring of the PL-259 and slide it back so it isn't making contact with the radio or amplifier. Leave the center pin inserted. If you hear signals normally in this configuration, it would appear that the coax is shorted at some point.

How about connecting the coax directly to the radio and leaving the amplifier out of the equation for a minute? Same problem or not?
 
when u replaced the relay did u check the board for broken traces? also if you switch the power off or on does the receive change? if no check the board where the pre amp switch connects to the relay and see if it has continuity in the off position ni no its the push switch have fun replacing its a nightmare
