Glad you got it figured out. It's easy to miss the version needed since there are multiple versions for the same model.


I went down the Kenwood programming road a couple years ago. I picked up several of the TK 981s to use on the 900 mhz amateur band. It also used the same software as you used KPG 49D. Since these were not designed to work on the ham bands I had to download a hex-edit program that a guy (much smarter than me) developed to trick the radio down from 930 to 920 mhz. It took a lot of research and trial and error but I got it to work well. I then flashed 2 other rigs for my friends. We have been playing on 900 for a couple years with great success.


If I ever get into GMRS I will probably pick up a 880 to play with since I already have the software on my desktop.
