What kind of mic should I use on this since I work ssb 99 percent, the stock mic with it or an amplified mic, or just use the stock mic, and tune it up with the alc set around 3/4 as usual??

The little square mic's sound very good on those , unfortunately , no mic gain on that radio like many others like it. Do you remember those old NC power mic's radio shack put out ? Those always sounded fantastic on SSB on those perticular Uniden boarded radios. You could more then likely pick up one in excellent condition on Ebay already wired for the 465 for under 20.00 bucks shipped. They made 3 of them in that style , all the same with different battery powers , 2 x AA / 1 x 9 volt and 1 x 7 volt (you can use 12 volt garage door batteries on those that will work just fine , you can find those at Walmart for 2 in a pack for about 1.88)NC RS MIC

Yep I remember those mics, to bad we didn't save any from many years ago, did see the one on ebay, and after that one, gives me a good idea, thanks appreciate it.

It's all good Doc. Those are very decent little AM/SSB'ers , I never had a problem with 20 watts pep out of them even running power. Those radios will take an Expo or Galaxy kit if you can fine one , I always found the expo's to be a real bitch on those when trying to alighn them if you will , The Galaxy N kit's I found were the best and easiest to install on those and gave no problems as far as alighnments went. The N kits gave you all upper channels above 40 , which is usually where SSB'ers do there thing anyway. There's also one other way , you can change the chip but , you also have to give the radio a good 5 khz or more of slide to make the replacement chip work to get on freq , just another pain in the ass even though they will work. The Galaxy N Kit's are truly the way to go if you can find one. Enjoy

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
