Amplifier --- transmitter --- in this case, the two are interchangeable. There's still no carrier on SSB. Tune using CW. Your pulser won't work in any mode but CW, I believe.

And QRN is right - sending a string of QRQ dits will do exactly the same thing as your pulser.
