Tis the season. I'll share a few steps I did to add some modulation to this cheap radio. Schematics for the newer Uniden radios are not online, however if you scrub the President schematics really good you can find a model that is its cousin minus a few components. Using the cheat sheet from CBtricks for variable carrier control"JP36" mod, you can apply to any Modulation transformer'd radio. Instead of trying to run wires to a surface mount component the easiest way I found was to cut the trace going to the final like in the picture. Run a jumper to the trace from the mod transformer to the final. Next lift JV1 and apply the wires from the carrier control mod. I'm not one for disabling the AMC but you could modify that area for a slower action.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
