Ladies and Gentlemen,
We have good news and bad news. First the BAD news.
Mitsubishi has discontinued the following final output transistors:
2SC2166
2SC2312
2SC1969
Now the good news.
Most CB and Amateur radios will begin using MOSFETS instead of transistors. What does this mean?
Well, MOSFETS are capable of much better stability over a greater freq. range. They are also capable of higher power output with a smaller package. So, in the near future, we should see our transmit quality become far more superior than it has been.
Companies like Icom have been using this technique, for some time now, to produce radios that will cover a broad array of frequency ranges out of one unit.
