VX-8R Bluetooth Headset PTT Question

I just got a VX-8R, with the Bluetooth option and BH-2A headset. I find it difficult to drive and talk while pushing the PTT button on the headset (not very hands-free). Is there a way to setup the radio/headset so that you can use the PTT like a toggle switch - pushing once to transmit, and then again to switch back to receive?

I have not tried the VOX setting yet, because I drive a roadster, with the top down, and it can be little noisy. Thanks for any help or advice.

I would seriously doubt that there is a way to do that...I've not seen a headset that works this way. However, if you got a good noise cancelling bluetooth headset, I bet the VOX would work OK once you got the gain set properly. I drive a noisy Jeep and it is amazing what some of these noise cancelling bluetooth head sets can do.

Another option would be to get a good throat mic/earphone that is wired and use VOX. I have a buddy that has used one on his HT while driving his motorcycle! He said it worked great.

I tried out a Jabra headset that a co-worker had and it worked the way I want it too, in a hands-free manner. Pressing the talk switch puts the radio into transmit, and stays there until pressed again to return to receive. So I purchased my own BT5020 and it worked the same.

I do not understand why the Yaesu headset would not work this way. But, in any case, the Jabra does. So now I have true hands-free headset.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
