On a yagi type driven element that is typically grounded, what is actually going on with the gamma matcher?

I suspect that it creates an insulation point for the coax and that it allows you to locate a tap point to the element, but what, if anything else, it is doing?

Does it have a resonating quality?

Is the gamma what is being tuned when we are making the adjustments?

We are trying to reach a 50 ohm tap point on the element. Is that point actually on the element or is it what we find at the boom end of the matcher where the coax center conductor connects?

Sometimes a question gets asked to provoke thought on the part of those who wish to learn about a topic, not just for a definitive answer. The larger amount of info that is provided, the more thought that can be inspired.

Good show Marconi.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
