When did the cobra 29 start to be junk?

Its a clean unmolested radio. I just have too many radios and need to thin my herd.
Id rather offer them here than ebunk. This one i know was stored in a climate controlled non smoking home before i got it. The same friend 521 Dirty White Boy (rip) gave me a Philippines Uniden PC78Xl thats super clean and unmolested. That one i may do something with and put it in the car.

Compliments on my pilipino U-76 nearly outweigh all others on other radios combined (but I used it exclusively for over ten years). Clays upgraded it to a dual final setup back in 1997 (same as Connex 3300).

Cobra 29 (reputation) is as a re-badged Uniden-PC76 so far as I can tell.

Someone ought to know the history.

Cobra went thru more changes and factories than Kamala has undies.

Give that PC78 some lungs (KL7405).

I have been waiting for a gtl for along time but no good ones are showing up. I wanna get a newer one because i dont want to go thru the hassle of refurbishing it. No one around to do it. Is The ltd classic side mic good? I see those around pretty often. The ltd chrome looks good too, i like the black face and blue led's

If you can find an unmolested 29gtl or ltd that was made in Hong Kong grab it. They were only made in Hong Kong for one year only. Those 29s were made right after the Taiwan and right before the Philipine runs. Like I said, they were made there for 1 year only. I just picked up a 29ltd made in Hong Kong, I already have the gtl made there. In my opinion they are as good of not better than the Philippine versions.

back in the late 90s we used to sell them a few a week and cut the modulation loose and swing 20 watts there were so many cbers around this was all we had to do to make anyone happy.
