I was just fooling around tonight with the little Uniden PC68XL. I got crazy and turned on my Icom 7300 and dialed it up to 27.185. Set the Uniden to channel 19. When I key the Uniden... it shows 330 Hz HIGH on the 7300's waterfall.

I went ..... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Moved the antenna to the TRC-458 that I have been messing with .... keyed it.....and IT shows up around 700 Hz LOW. And IT is a SIDEBAND.

Daddy....... NOT happy.

I wouldn't be at all that surprised.
Wait until you test an older 23 channel xtal controlled radio, like an old Cobra or SBE - for examples. That . . . isn't fun. The xtals are arranged in banks; a primary and secondary bank. They only way is to add trimmer caps to the one bank and fine tune it if one in that group is off. The SBEs have the trimmers in both; the Cobra in just the first bank IIRC. If some of the other caps in the secondary bank are also off ('likely'), you end up having to add LOTS of trimmer caps to pull them all back into tolerance. Good thing trimmer caps are cheap!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
