Wilson sy33 hf triband yagi? only 6 traps, wouldnt it need 12???

I am looking at a wilson sy33 triband hf 3 element yagi... real nice shape... but i am confused... how can a 3 element triband yagi need 12 traps, 6 for 15m and 6 for 10m

Each trap has a dual winding to make two traps in one housing. Look at page 10 of the manual in your link. A couple of the older tribanders only had six traps for a three element tribander.

So it is basically 2 traps in each package?

Yes it is two traps in one package. The antenna is not bad, typical tribander performance. It's an oldie, I think they were made back in the late 70's early 80's or thereabouts.

Why not build a hexbeam, 5 bands and no traps.

Why not use a perfectly good trapped tribander if you already have it? Trap losses are no where near what internet lore claims.
