I know I’m years late when it comes to this mic. I never took a close look because I had no real interest in the sound effects. But reading reviews made me give one a try. It’s a few days new and hadn’t heard what it sounds like myself receiving very good audio reports.
I’ve tried a couple different astatic mics. D104 hand mic and a desk mic. Hand mic reported as extremely high pitched from local contacts. Astatic AST878DM desk mic reported as not as good as stock mic on this radio and developed a scratching sound. Hard to beat the stock mic!! This one( 2018) seems to be performing quite well. Better than the stock mic?, I won’t know I suppose until I hear the difference myself.
