High power output is featured with 50 watts on 10, 6 and 2 meters and 35 watts on 430 MHz. It is like having two radios in one with dedicated Volume and Squelch controls on each side. Built in features include: duplexer and CTCSS/DCS Encode/Decode. Over 800 memories are available. It is WIRES compatible.
The FT-8900R features Yaesu's ARTS™ Auto-Range Transponder System, important in search-and-rescue applications. ARTS provides a "hand-shake" with other ARTS equipped transceivers and displays out of range or in range. A six character CW ID is also provided for your station every ten minutes during ARTS operation. The FT-8900R comes with a mobile mounting bracket, DC cord and MH-48A6J Up-Down, illuminated DTMF microphone.
The Comet UHV-4 is a quad band antenna. It was created with the Yaesu FT-8900 in mind. It is pretuned for 2 meters and 440 (70 cm). Plus 10 meters and 6 meters may be tuned independently. It is a quarter wave on 10 and 6 meters. It is a 1/2 wave on 2 meters (2.15 dBi) and a two 5/8 waves in phase on 70 cm (5.5 dBi). Maximum power is 120 watts SSB on 10 meters and 200 watts SSB 50/146/446 MHz.
The length is 54 inches (1.3 m 610 g). It has a PL259 [M] connector. An Allan wrench is included. This antenna does have a fold-over provision directly above the base coil.
The Comet HD5M Heavy-duty lip mount consists of the RS-840 mount with with 16’ 6” deluxe coax cable assembly with SO-239/PL-259 connectors. Adjusts 360 degrees in two planes for mounting on horizontal or vertical edges. A thru-bolt wedges the adjusted plates together to securely hold them in position. Quality appearance and low loss coax cable assembly installs easily in minutes. The first 18 inches of coax is mini RG-188A/U type allowing easy entry through the weather seal into the vehicle without causing wind noise, water leaks or coax damage. The coax balance is low loss with 24k gold plated SO-239 & PL-259 connectors. The PL-259 connector disassembles for easier routing or to shorten the coax length. Soft rubber pad protects the vehicle paint, 4 large set screws hold the mount firmly in place.
