Yep, we had another thread discussing that same thing. I still am shocked that QST actually published something instructing people to defeat a safety mechanism on an HF amp!

I have an Al-82 and common sense tells me not to defeat the safety switch when playing with high voltages. I think I remember something like that when I took my ham test back in 1992. I may have forgotten a lot of #@%$ but I'll never forget studying about safety! Who wants to end up as a silent key?
