Got hopefully the 1st of many CA3045 Tweety Bird modules built. The circuit provided did not include the "fires on keydown" feature. Anyone know what to add to do this?

Many thanks

wait, are you trying to install an, "i ran out of good comebacks" button?

not sure what its like in your neck of the woods, but around here, people that use those things get referred to as whiny (term for a female dog)'s.

maybe im thinking of a different device.

you need to add a button with a capacitor across it and add it to the power lead.

you need to watch the polarity of the cap to so as to not short it out .

how much you want for one?maybe i,ll buy one and tinker with it over here .

Hi Funky, No that's not it. An extra switch is not needed in order to fire-on-keyup. You'd have to push the dang button while keying up every time.

They're not terrifically easy to put together Funky my man. Takes about 2 hours plus acquiring the parts from various sources. I plan on putting them on ebay as Buy It Now for $60 and they will sell. I have sold the parts-only by themselves and been paid $50-60. All I can do is $50 shipped. Will be ready to use/install, tested and working.

just add a cap to that button to hold the charge while resting and it should fire on keyup.

man i miss my birdie guy .i could buy those wholesale for 10 bucks .he would sell them on ebay for 15.00.those days are gone now .he doesnt return my emails.

on all mine all it is is a cap across the button to hold the charge while resting.increase capacitence and you get a longer whistle when you key.
thats how mine work.

Hey funky, Yes that appears how they get the keydown fire on the 3086 chip, but this is the 3045 I'm working with and the circuit is completely different. The schematic states that is DOES do the keyup tweet...but it's not doing it. Going to try BC's suggestion now...been out all day. The 3045 has a cap across the button but that only adds the long tail to the tweet.....doesn't produce a keyup tweet - is not producing the keyup tweet....but the schem. says it should??

Thanks to Bionic Chicken !!

Had the tweety ground installed to battery negative. Moved the TG to mic metal base and that did the trick! Test mic is an old junky Turner +3

Will make a note of this for future reference. The 3045 circuit has 4 different points going to ground but it didn't specify to connect to mic ground as opposed to just taking it to battery -

Too cool and thanks again!

Change the value of the cap to make the squirt longer or shorter.

Glad you got it to working. Waiting on the royalty checks to start rolling in. LOL

Already sent ya an eCheck but it bounced as I had your addy wrong. Can't resend, they're those dang one-time only cheapie checks from the Kwicky Mart.

The tail tweet is just perfect with the specified 10uf cap. Thanks!

NEXT !!!!!! ?????? You don't happen to know how to get the things to make that diesel horn type noise do ya? Another tidbit left off the schematic

what do you mean my diesel horn sound ww?

i have a rare 2 tone tweety inside a d104 im sending you the sound file now to see if thats what you mean?

Yeah the tweeties of old that were fully built out with every possible feature added, had a buzzer-diesel horn sounding noise to it.

So a circuit was shorted or a component was added between here and there to get the sound but don't know which or what.

Yeah Radioman,

Listened to your sound file. That's it! Kind of an electric fart noise or whatever anyone wants to call it. Have you seen on the chip what they did for that noise?

Thanks!
