    The new Radio Shack???

The rat shack stores here in indy are pretty bad also but I hit the store in my dads home town of crossville tenn. a while back and was shocked. I found cobras and even a galaxy or two along side the radioshack radios. I was looking for a pl259 and a soldering iron and found no less than 8...

    skywarn / storm spotter class

Here in Indy, we don't have that many bad funnel clouds that touch down though it does happen. the southern end of indiana around the river has been hit several times in the last decade or so and flooding like what in going on in tenn. can be a problem for those folks I go to the classes every...

    A good article

I enjoyed it also. I have enough 12 volt equipment to get the job done, and have the stuff laying around to make any antennas that would be needed but it would most likely take me a little while longer to get one up and running than it would someone with a field day kit handy. mike

    Ham mic wiring

tell your friend that the wiring for the ts-520 is audio on pin 1, ptt on pin 2, and shield on pin 4. if it's a 6 wire mic, it'll be white on pin 1 black on pin 2 blue on pin 3 and shield on pin 4. if it keys as soon as he plugs it in, switch the black for the red. I hope this helps. mike P.S...

Golden Falcon Base Amp - 10 tube

If you look long enough you might find a couple of tubes for it but the 8908 and it's brother the 8975 tubes are pretty much made of unabtainium. they are a 12 pin tube and the only tubes that have similar electrical properties are 9 pin tubes. the 6kg6 or the russian equivalent the el509 are...

    Super Scout Amplifier

The setup you have listed should be drivable to full output with 25 watts of audio on sideband. If you use it on AM, between 2 and 4 watts dead key and 30 watts of audio. If everything is in good shape and tuned right it should do close to legal limit on 10 meters. mike

Palomar Elite 900 Chattering on SSB

most likely if it doesn't have a switch on the front for sideband, it most likely doesn't have a delay built into it to hold the relay in the absence of carrier on ssb. Any decent shop can add a delay and put it on a switch for very little cost. It just takes a cap to ground off of the relay...

    my radio is here

I've made em from copper and from tv twin lead, and the last one from latter line, and put it inside 1" pvc. They all worked well. I even once built a 2 meter tape measure beam that worked very well. The hams of old would laugh their butts off at the current generations love for buying everything...
