How about doing a step by step "how-to" on a 4 or maybe 5 pill linear, that is AB biased, and good for SSB, that could be driven with a 100W radio.

Something a lttle bit more than a parts list.
Something a little cleaner than a class C splatter box.

Well,I could jump in,,,but if it's AM Power's turn,,,i truely dont wanna jump the line...lol
I can wait my turn or,,,jump in,,,as you wish "Linearone" the way i look at it,,,you started this thing(Thread) so its your baby....
Although i dont do the "pillstrip" thing,,,i would think most of the guy's veiwing this thread,,,have and can use a "Dremmel" to cut traces...
When it's my turn,,,, can we will use everything availible from Stu at Westgate,,so as everyone can endup with the same thing,,,,or do ya wanna start from scratch?

I've been waiting for a thread like this. This is what it's all about is'nt it? As i like to say,,,,"Paying it Forward"

Ok,,,sorry for the delay,,,i been "gone fishing" for awhile.,.lol

I only see one suggestion for the build...is this what ya'll want? a 4x2879 to be driven with 100 to 150w p.e.p.?

If not,,,then reply with your request, and Linearone, and i will decide....

Ok then,,,I'll get everything together,,,and start as soon as i can...and since you have givin them a bias circ. in yours,,,we'll just mod it for the added transistors,,,i guess that's ok,,,ya mind if i have them put it on a board?
I guess this would be considered,,"advanced class"...lol

"linearone PM me" if ya dont mind,,,i want to make sure i dont get this thing too complicated for everyone to follow...

Cheer's,,and get ready for class....

Hey "Adam",,,NO talking in the back of the room,,,,and SIT DOWN !!...lol

rfpower 8)

Ok,Folk's,,I am currently getting together the parts list...I will try to put it up today..

And Hey "Boo" thanks for your offer to assist,,,and ya will be called on...lol,as i have never tried to teach anyone what it is that we do,,,i'm sure i'll need the help to get the instructions explained in a way that everyone understands....lol So I am sure i will need you and "Linearone" to help out...You too "NorthStar"...lol

OK with that said, watch for the parts list sometime today !
I guess i should start a new thread for it?

CF-12V-3-5/8in. --- fan --- 1 --- $2.25

FG-3.5/8in --- fan gaurd --- 1 --- $1.19

2SC2879 --- transistor --- 4 --- $17.50

TIP-120 --- transistor --- 1 --- $0.46

FC-1/4in L-.825in --- ferrite core --- 3 --- $0.44

W-1/2 --- transformer --- 2 --- $2.25

W-1 1/2 --- transformer --- 2 --- $3.10

KRLY2012 --- relay --- 1 --- $3.25

CDM19-500V-910pf --- S/M capacitor --- 1 pack --- $3.25

CDM15-500V-120pf --- S/M capacitor--- 1 pack --- $2.80

CDM15-500V-50pf --- S/M capacitor --- 1 pack --- $2.50

CDK-5KV-100pf --- ceramic doorknob --- 1 --- $10.95

464-1 --- compression trimmer --- 1 --- $2.09

FC-1/2L1/2 --- ferrite core --- 1 --- $0.24

SO-239-T --- connector --- 2 --- $1.45

Now there are other parts needed,,,but,,due to the fact that most of "These"
parts will have a minimun quantity to order,,,I guess maybe go to your
local RatShack and try your luck there...

1/2 watt 10ohm resistor 4

3watt 100 ohm M.O. metaloxide resistor 3

5watt 100 ohm M.O. metaloxide resistor 1

Red LED or what ever color ya like for the on/off indicator

DP/DT mini switch 2

1n4148 diode 2 or a pack (whatever)

1n5400-01/02/03 diode 1

10uf@35v electrolytic 1

4700@35v electrolytic 2

Wire,,,,we will use only "Telfon" wire on this project
14ga and 16ga stranded is what we will use.None of that fake ass high temp
jacket CRAP either,,,If it's not "Teflon" ya dont want it....That simple

It is also "Preffered" that you have some "Teflon" coax,a short peice of
RG-142 or equevelent about 8 in. and a peice of mini "Teflon"
50-ohm about 12in.If ya cant find the "mini" then just use the RG-142,
It's just more difficult to work with,,but it will do fine..

Ok well I'm sure i have forgotten something...lol

I'm sure someone will bring it to my attention...

OK well there's ya a start,,,,I will also be posting a seperate parts list
for the "Bias Board".

In my previous post,,I mentioned jokingly, that this was the "advanced Class".
This means that you will be expected to use a "drillpress" a "Drimmel tool"
and a few other peices of equiptment....SAFELY !!!!

items not mentioned such as screws, taps, nuts and such,,I just figure ya might have
on hand,,if not,,when we get into the build,,i will go over these in more
depth..
Dude!!!! this was more work to put together, than the amp will be to build...lmao

Happy Shopping
