"CB Radios" only. My favorite 5:

1. Stoner Pro40 (Rigs are getting old though so it's not a "Daily User" rig anymore).

2. Rat Shak's TRC-457

3. SBE Console VI

4. ARF2001

5. Tram D201A

No particular order of preference.

I loved the Midland, it had a PLL 02A it was easy to mod for ex-ch , dual antenna outputs (I had a old big-stick and a little 3 El beam on the flat side and it was so cool to switch back and forth right on the radio)it was strong, used a 1306/1307 driver/final a noise blanker/ANL that really worked, and just was a sweet looking rig.

The TelSat was my `Lil brothers rig, I remember it was loud, and I liked the looks of it, we had not evolved to the point of dissecting radios yet, that came later, and by then he had traded it away for a little amp with 6kv6`s in it and a JB-12 to drive it(oh how the neighbors loved us LOL). But It too was a sweet looking radio.

I do not remember anything Negative about either radio.

Mobil: TS50S Kenwood
Base: TS430S Kenwood

I like the TS430 better than the other SSB rigs Ive owned, the 2000, 440, and Icom 720.

If you are refering to "CB" only rigs:

Mobil: Uniden Grant XL
Base: President Madison

Had a Madison, once or twice. Performed well, but I never got used to the round meters, and for a deluxe rig, it sure would have been nice to have a freq. readout

Agree about the Madison, Always used a Redco RFC-250 with it until I graduated into real radios. That was the nice thing about the Cobra 2000. I think I'll change my CB Base to the Cobra 2000. What a beautiful rig, and everything you can do with the Madison you could do with the 2000 with the advantage of the freq. counter.

I started this thread as "CB's" only, but seeing as some ham rigs have popped up on some lists, I'll mention a few of my fav's -

Yaesu FT-101 - I've had just about every variant of the 101. Don't know why I sell 'em, but they are just about indestructable.

Icom IC-751A. Lot's of features and I really like the variable NB

Yaesu FT-897. There's so many things I can do with this one, PLUS, it has a great variable NB that equals the IC-751A
