I have a Texas Star 667V I want to put on 10 meters.

I want to disable the pre-driver (2SC2290) to allow for higher input power.

Has anyone done this? Or know how to do it?

If you are a competent tech, could you check the schematic and get me going in the right direction?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

You should be able to compare it to a texas star 500 schematic and make the nessasary disconections . Go to cbtricks.com and look at both schematics . Good luck

25-50 Watts PEP/15 Watt carrier (FM)

Thank you everyone for your input so far!

This should not be hard, but if done wrong poof! $$$

Ok

The power input sounds perfect, especially for FM.

Here is the original schematic, and then my butchered version. Feel free to laugh, flame etc.

But what to do with R7 and R10, if anything?

20WPEP into 4X2SC2879's @ 13db. Minimum Gain = 400WPEP Out.
15W in for FM is good.

  • No one is chatting at the moment.
  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
