D75 is burnt out on component side of board its the right front side its black burnt and kapoot and a guy in my area is wondering what it can be replaced with its a second generation radio capacitor backup no battery.

Come on now, everyone with the internet has the same resources, I took about 5 minutes out and went over to CBtricks, looked through the service manual, looked up D75 which is listed as a KB362 KB362 Diode - CB Radios Plus Granted someone could have answered, but either no one saw it, or just didn't know without doing the leg work.

I haven't taken the time to determine if D75 is the same acrossed all revisions, most likely it is. Also I'd suggest shopping around a bit for a source, I basically took the first available.

we dont get a lot of answers in here do we

Grandpa, thats not true, and if you spent any time at all reading the forum you would have known that, there is a few guys here that go out of the way to be helpful. You may also want to keep in mind no one is paid, nor is payment expected to be a member here.

Maybe there is a reason for that diode burning up?
I'll bet my last dollar that if you put a new diode in there, it'll just burn up the same because something else is wrong there in the squelch circuit putting too much voltage on that diode.

perhaps a voltage regulator has gone short and the IC in that circuit is fried also.

Mack thats what I also told the guy (Theres usually a reason that parts burn up its not always that they just get old) I said the same that he better buy a few of those parts because most likely its gonna happen again.

Now onto the being lazy comment
Yes I realize the resources are available allover the net but..... We have alot of members here that know alot about or specialize or even pay most attention to certain radios (Rogerbird Uniden HR2510) which can take out guess work and headaches and the extra information thats usually given by these experts is really a big help.

Mack your answer was what I was looking for cross reference part numbers. Thank you all.:thumbup:

Tony, the comment was directed more at Gramps, more as a reminder that sometimes it takes a bit for responses, no worries, just sometimes everyone needs a reminder that the price of admission is pretty cheap, myself included....:thumbup1:
