Would it be possible to add a switch inline to the amps power supply to make it switchable on/off?

Might be a better idea to re-route the rf input via a switch.

looking at the schematic it looks to me like if you break the keying circuit voltage you will get your low power.that will keep the changeover relay from working.

I had a RCI 2970 years ago when the green faces first came out. I was told a resounding NO back then. Just know that this is a slightly different design and I am sure u am dealing with a better set of minds than before.

i modded a 95 t one time with a switch to turn on and off the linear section ...
check out the schematic ,,, there is a plug that has a brown and red wire..
can't remember the plug n# on amp bd section.. break the red wire and put a switch ...
before doing so unplug the wire and see if it works first ,, if so go ahead and put a switch ... but remember you will not get much power ,,, the radio is tuned to the linear ... my opion it's not worth doing ..

Ive done this with RCI 2970 and Galaxy Saturn Turbo base radio with cutting a brown wire inside that ran to a jumper plug and andi added a switch inline.
