I took the test for my Technician License on Feb 19 2011 and my license grant still has not shown up yet. What is taking so long. Everyone I've spoken to tell me theirs took 3 days or less. Anyone have any ideas on when mine might show up?

8 whole days so far? Seems like a long time by today's standards. It took five weeks for mine - but that was back in the '50s.

You could ask the VE group, or just be patient.

I remember sending in my quarter for a Charles Atlas training manual and 8 weeks later it came, let me tell your it was worth the wait.

Keep ur panties on.

Congratulations on passing the test! It's only been five working days since you took your test. It's an exciting time but you have to be a little patient. The VE's have to turn in their test results (if that's how the tech test is done these days) and then the FCC needs time to process the application. I took my novice test almost 25 years ago, before there was an online ULS data base. Waiting for my license to come snail mail was BRUTAL! It seemed to take forever.

I would expect you'll see it posted in the next week or so.

It depends on how it was sent to the FCC. Where I'm a VE we do test on weekends. And the new licenses are posted on Monday evenings. And if they mailed in they may not be posted for 3 weeks. Because someone didn't drop them in the box until a few days later. Look on the FCC web site. Enter your name in the search box. It just be there.

Beside the license appearing in the ULS, will I also get something in the mail from the FCC as well?

I took my Tech and General test on Feb 14th, I received my call sign on the afternoon of the 22nd. Might have had it on the 21st but it was President's Day and they were closed. I was watching several site to see when my sign was posted and the link above to the FCC posted them first. Try this on also:

Your physical license will come to you in the mail. The FCC is a lot faster than they used to be.

When I was first licensed in the early 1990s it took almost 6 weeks to get my license in the mail. Seemed like it took even longer for my technician to arrive. Was "Temporary KT" for what seemed like an eternity.

I took my test on the 19th also and hope to see it on the ULS on the 1st or 2nd of March, remember the 21st was a holiday for the Gov,so if they even mailed it out on Saturday it didn't go anywhere untill Tues....

It seems like forever not being able to hit the PTT hahahaha but soon enough it will happen.Just gives a person a little more time to fine tune thier antenna/s weather permitting.......

That will be awesome! I'm saving my money right now for a FT 857D. Good lord willing I will have it by the middle to end of March.

Peter,
All I can say is that those that got it in 3 days were very fortunate, and that is not the normal time period for the ARRL/W5YI and the FCC to complete the process. The 'normal' waiting period to get that license (notification) is something like 7 to 10 days, with an extra day or two depending on who knows what.
Unless 'they've changed again, you should receive your 'paper' licenses (one for wall mounting, one to carry) in whatever time your local post office typically does things (here, it's three days even in town, at least).
Your 'wait' so far really hasn't been unusual. I know it seems like 'for ever', but we've ALL gone through that waiting, you got plenty of company...
