might have to look at that antenna......hmmmm....wait all yal in that direction I will just run the beam and point it to the lower 48... that automatic works daddy-o ....either way you are making a fine trip into Alaska...
auto or manual....the auto might work out better for you though like you was saying ....no have to swing the beam...for me way up here I dont have to swing the beam...lol

Yep Scott, it is amazing how little watts it takes to talk, even local. If we didn't have stuff on the Earth in the way of direct line of site contacts a 1/4 watt would get us anywhere we wanted to go.

Propagation conditions had more to do with the success of this test by 4040 than anything else.

If we are going to be completely honest, we must factor in that highly-favorable ionospheric conditions contributed more than anything.

I could have used a wet Popsicle stick and made contact to Europe with 100mW. Everybody has scored great DX over the last week. I don't have a walkie-talkie; but if I did I bet I would have success with it in the past week.

Don't get me wrong; I think it has proved to be a fine antenna and may well beat the I-10k and Predator 5/8 wave antennas. Yet to be seen. If the SGM can come up with the goods for 1/2 the price; then it is definitely the better antenna -IMO . . .

You have to remember he also makes contact 65 miles away also, not too shabby for a hunk of fiberglass.
