What if someone were to re-release the Emperor Shogun TS-5010/Alan 9001 clone.
The optima board with a higher powered 100w PA section and a dot matrix screen could be used.
The knob placement on the shogun seems backward. Anybody have any idea why they wired it so?
I would put the vol on the left and the RIT/XIT next to the frequency selector and get rid of the SWR knob in favour of an RF gain control.

Would any body want to pay around US$400 for such a radio these days? Just 10-12m coverage. Or are we getting too close in price to an alinco, or Icom 718 that does way more .......
Opinions please.

i gotta emperior 5010 it would be hard to improve on.far as 100 watts
well that would be cool for a mobile install. but for a base like mine
id rather use a amp behind it like a texas star 500v

The $400 price tag definitely pushes the limits with some but I am sure their is some of a market among people in that crowd.

for $400 i'd expect 45m in it too at the very least.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
