First dipole - 20m - 300 foot tower - Bristol Bay Alaska

Well I solved the problem! I took the antenna down from the tower and decided to open up the balun. Lo and behold there was a direct short across the Pl-259 connector! This balun was well designed but poorly constructed. The ground strap was resting on the center pin solder joint! What the heck? Anyway, fixed that and put her back on the tower.

WORKED amazingly! The band was great tonight and I worked Sweden, Japan, the Caribbean, and the West Coast!

    Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
