Solar charger for VX-8DR

I was going to suggest the multimeter test as well. Let us know what you find out as I was considering one of these kits for similar purpose.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, but when I connect the multimeter, its reading around 13.64 Volts in full sunlight. By comparison, when plugged into my truck, its reading around 11 Volts. The charger charges while plugged into the truck, but not when using solar power.

I tried to read the amps, but it kept reading 0 for both my truck and solar charger. :confused1:

I wonder if the Amps is the problem. I can't remember where I saw the specifications, but I think the Nomad 7 only produces 12VDC@.5A where-as the Yaesu VX-8R charging cradle produces 12VDC@2A.

If the charger isn't producing the current needed to charge the radio, it for sure won't work.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
