Connex CX3300HP Peak and Tune

What? My uncle just bought one and he wants to do it himself.

The 'best peak and tune' is really nothing more than getting the radio aligned properly ('by the book'). Unless he has a O-scope, freq counter, a DVM, and a signal generator and knows how to use them; then you are just better off taking it to a shop that can do all of that for you for ~$35-$40 . . . (needs the Service Manual too) . . .

Amen!!!!!!! Unless you have the correct equipment and know what the heck your doing leave it to someone that does.

If it were as simple as twist and turn some pots guys like DTB, Custom cb, and Bob's cb would not be backed up with work like they are.

Don't listen to these idiots! Open that bad boy up and turn everything that will turn as far to the right as it will go.

Now you will have it Super Whack Packed and own the airwaves!

(Just kidding, take their advice and have it done right)

Reminds me of a friend I had back in the 70s....the higher he got the louder he turned his stereo.....by the time he was 3 sheets in the wind he would have every knob on his stereo turned as far as they would go clockwise...including the balance knob. :D

That's what I am talking about. Not only was he happy but the neighbors in the next block were too since he was kind enough to share his music with them.

Why talk on just 1 channel when you can talk on all 40 at once?

He lived on a farm out in the country....but his closest neighbor had a dairy farm and claimed his loud music was making his cows produce less milk.:D

I would go by his stereo and turn the stereo as loud as it would go without clipping hoping that would satisfy him...nope...he would come into the room and turn everything all the way to the right....I would get tired of the racket and go outside.

Galaxy 33-88, Connex 3300, and similar units:

"Supertune": Change R174 and 187 from 10k units to 2.2k units. Peak L31, L33, L40, L42, L43, L44, L51, and L52 for best swing, using a loud, steady "aaaah" sound in the mic. Set carrier control pots as normal for high and low power levels. For louder, cleaner talkback, solder a .1uf capacitor in series with a resistor (5k on up) from pin 4 of the audio chip to J25 (small wire jumper in front of TR32 on parts side of board, near the mic socket). If you use a resistor higher than 10k, you can skip the capacitor, unless you desire a higher tone for the talkback. Experiment a bit for best resuslts. If desired, you can replace R238 with a rectifier diode, with its banded end pointed towards the mic-jack side of the radio. NOTE: this can increase the possibility of feedback in hot operating conditions, but adds alot of room in the modulation for lower-output mics like the Astatic 636L. If feedback occurs after warm-up, nake sure the AM regulator is securely mounted and completely FLUSH against the chassis.

AMC Mod: Change C133 (center of the board, about 2-2.5 inches from back edge, next to TR 34) from 10uf to 4.7 uf. This makes the AMC action much snappier, and gives better average loudness.

So whats up 007, did your uncle decide to break out the golden screwdriver and jack his new radio all up? Or did he send it in and get er done right? More important, why didn't he just buy the darn thing from a shop that does good tech work and have it done one time the first time and send it out to him and be done??

Is he gonna next do some mods on his 70" 1080p wide screen? Or maybe re align the CPU on his F150 X-Cab? Maybe mod his new I-Phone? Ok, I think I laid it on thick enough.....get the point now maybe?

Ever wonder the price of test equipment?? If the KNOW their stuff try $8,000 to $60,000!! My tech has his phd. in electrical engineering and taught electrical engineering at Kentucky State University for 10yrs...my last 2 toys he updated ,recapped and aligned was my 950sdx and,my 940sat...
