Base murs gmrs frs antenna

to my best of knowledge theres no way to hook up a external to a frs radio.
as for murs firestick used to have a antenna for them .not sure if they still
do.
gmrs im not sure.
you might get away with a scanner antenna and cut it to resonate lenth
or use a antenna tuner

im using this comet ca-712efc 460-470mhz for my base gmrs set up,, talks easy 20 miles to my mobile and can hit repeaters 40+ miles on a 25 watt gmrs radio

I used the Comet GP-9 for many Years
Yes it is a 2 meter and 70 cm vertical ham antenna..
It had No Problem though ( swr's were more then ok )
and i spoke with it Really well..
is a High Gain Vertical...Not too big at all..
and Holds together Quite well..
Only after some 10 or 11 years and Hurricane Super Storm Sandy did it finally fail...lol

as long as you have your GMRS ticket and not running over the 50 watts no one will gives a poop...

I tried the smaller gmrs antenna like the one you posted, it does work but not great range like a Omni with some gain to it,, you start adding in the distance of coax and the losses involved at 460-470mhz an Omni with gain really brings the gmrs band to life, night and day diff. this is the one I have now http://www.theantennafarm.com/catalog/ncg-comet-ca-712efc-1085.html and get the antenna up as high as you can

RF Parts, Home page is selling an antenna for $19.95. It looks like it was made for something else as it has 20' of small coax and a fitting on it. Looks like they bought a bunch.
Anyway, it has 3 DB gain, is in a piece of Schd 80 pipe, about a foot and a half, colinier I think and covers 440-480 MHz with 1.5 or less SWR.
It also has a pipe mount on it.
I bought one for my GMRS transceiver and it works fantastic. Covers 3 towns in the valley I have in at 20' in the air over my single story house and 20 watts going into it.
I'm sure it was a surplus type deal they got, but these antennas are tough as nails and work great. Very high quality, made by a good company for sure, not china junk.
I cut the coax about a foot from the base and put a "N" connector on it , then attached LMR 400 to the fitting, the coax that's on it would have a lot of loss, so put a fitting and use some decent coax.
The Part # is SVU4500SP1 in their 2011-2012 catalog. Still the same price. I have several friends who bought one and they love them. Why spend big bucks when for $20. you can get a great antenna.
Their phone # is 760-744-2787. Get their catalog too, best prices on coax I've seen, such as Times LMR 400, $0.70 a foot when you buy over 50' to 100', the more you buy, the cheaper it is. I buy all my coax from them and have not got anything but best quality. They sell all kinds of other coax, all at low prices. Shipping is very reasonable also. They have the most fittings I've seen anywhere also at good prices, best quality stuff. Lots of other good stuff, a catalog worth having.
