MS119 SUPER SCANNER weird swr?

Matching Stub

I converted mine...The Cap was toast...
Got my SWR down to almost nothing...
page 11 in owners manual.
rg-58 approx 9 foot long...I used rg-8.
After verifying swr and some tests...Cranked up the wattage.

I copied this from the diagram....It is highlighted.

When not active, the element lengths are made to appear longer by the quarter wave coax sections. If
the coax does not add the correct amount of inductance, the elements will not act as reflectors and
the pattern will be an oval shape with equal gain front and back. Computer modelling shows the
following required amounts.
20 m 1mh and 5 pf
17 & 15 m .8 6.25
12 & 10 m .6 8.3
6 m .1 50
2m .1 5
440mhz .03 1
For omni postion the original scanner directions give a series capacitor of 250pf and a 9 turn inductor.
I do not know the diameter or length of the coil but it must be under 1 mh. Older versions had a simpler way of just adding a quarter wave matching stub . This was shorted out at the end and left dangling down the mast.

The factory manual I have for this antenna says that the cable lengths for each one of the dipole vertical elements is 29" long.

Yeah i saw that and was like, WTF!!!!

Since I was looking at the manual I have, I was looking for a length that was likely in inches. So I read 29" inches, but after reading Jazz's comments I went back to check...and I then saw the notation was really showing 29' feet, and that is not likely.

You have the antenna, so why don't you measure the the coax length's coming out of the relay. I see there should be 5 coaxial wires, 1 is the feed line, 1 is the coaxial stub for the omni function, and three for the coaxial wires to the elements.

Is this simple enough?

Just a update......2 years later....My ms119 working great..runs 1,500 watts
peak w no problems....Seems like this is only beam i've had where i can
have a vertical "metal mast" in the vertical plane.
Really irks me to see guys with maco beams using metal mast in vert plane..
