PTT foot switch

Anyone have any idea how to wire a ptt foot switch to a 6 pin Uniden Mic? Dunka, Steve

Not sure what that means 126??? It's a standard damper pedal for a keyboard. Thinking about it. I think the pedal is an open circuit when depressed so it wouldn't work.

Confirmed. pedal is open. reversing it now and figured out the TX and ground wires. Sorry. False alarm folks!

Problem;
Switch activates the tx. However, no audio. I was looking at this thread but never resolved. http://www.worldwidedx.com/threads/foot-switch-on-desk-mike.51171/

The ptt in the mic has 3 wires on one side including tx activate shorted to ground when pressed. 2 wires on the other side for center conductor mic and the other to the radio. Looks to me I would need 2 switches to activate both circuits.

Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

So your using a foot switch to ptt for a hand mic??? Ok, well if your just routing the foot pedal to the mic connector it shouldn't affect receive I wouldn't think. Can you post a picture of what you are doing? I switch from a hand switch to a Heil foot switch. The gray wire coming out of the mic plug attaches to the keying circuit. the mic is wired normally with the two wires from the grey cable piggybacking on the pins that put the radio into tx.

the switch in the mic is a double pole, double throw.
the 3 connectors on each side are the 2 poles, and the 2 connectors on each end are the 2 positions of the trows.

the foot switch needs to have the same configuration for it's switch to work correctly.

since you made the observation

Looks to me I would need 2 switches to activate both circuits.

I would infer that the foot switch is a single pole instead of double pole.

I cant find the exact wiring diagram for that mic/radio. But I would bet it's DPDT from your description.

in previous post the designation on-(on) indicates that in it's resting position,"on" one side is on/closed. The "(on)" indicates that it's spring loaded so when the user activates the switch to the other pole position , he must hold it there to maintain the closed state. Upon release, the switch returns to opposite pole in on/closed state.

OK 126. You are correct.That's exactly it. I would need a double pole foot switch. Thinking about picking up another foot pedal ($8)and tying them together to key and tx with an aluminum strap with both pedals screwed to a board. Trying to figure out how to run a PTT on the shifter in the car. Needs to be a double pole as well. I'm running an AT headset in the car as well with an inverter running the Art Tube MP preamp. In the office I want the footswitch so I'm totally hands free. I simultaneously enter a call # when it comes in into the search window of the spreadsheet on the laptop. If the station is there it pops right up. If not, I enter the data during the QSO. Absolutely love it and the stations I talk to are amazed at the detail recalled from the previous qso's. Ties the substance of the qso's to a name. Can't do it while keying the mic by hand. In the car it's a neat setup and need that switch on the shifter as that's where my hand is most of the time anyways.

I'm using the Uniden mic on the Anytone 6666 radio. Feed the audio directly into the wire from the old element in the BC980 mic.

Have you considered dragon software into notepad to capture the conversation and then cut out the relevant data into the spreadsheet?

Negative. never hear of it. It would have to be run on the little laptop as I won't use my big gun anymore for the radio. That one's for media production and don't want it idling constantly. I'll check it out. Thanks 126

Just looked at Dragon. Wow, 100$ ? It's all done in one shot right now during the qso's so I'll guess I'll stick with what I'm doing. Nice part is that when a call comes in I enter it in the search window and hit enter and if it's a previous contact it pops right up. All I usually do at that point is enter the date and brief condensed qso contents. pretty quick. Only a few seconds between calls.
