definitely a vinyl cover on the faceplate.

the most obvious sign of this to me is the fact that the front of the radio doesn't say
"product of Dynascan corp." on it.

also the cobra symbol and the "2000GTL" are the wrong font.

well, you can also just tell by looking that it's not brushed aluminum. LOL
