midland powermax 77 250cxl issues

It's not a Cybernet chassis. It has a rather unique board, I think it may use an LC7132 PLL. If I had a picture of the inside of the radio with the speaker side cover pulled off, I could provide more info. Does the meter show any signal at all? If the meter shows signal, but you're not getting audio, I'd suspect a bad capacitor.

(edit) Check/replace C218, C220, and C223. See if that helps.

~Cheers~

You found them?
Did you test them?
I couldn't find them I did find the audio ic, but no caps in the ranges exit listed. Also, I'm not entirely sure how to test them. I do have a multimeter, but that's about the extent of my testing equip.

I'm going to fire it up with the solder side open, and press the board to see if there's any cold solder joints. I noticed when I was frustrated I banged on it a couple times and the sounds it made were a little different. A few rows of solder look pretty rough.

I should be all 10-4 now, pressed the board in certain spots, and it started rxing again! Put the case back on and it started all over again. The hot spot's solder is pretty dirty so I'll take it apart and hit it with some contact cleaner. If that doesn't work permanently, then I foresee some soldering happening in my near future. Thank you both for quick responses and for all your suggestions!!!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
