I guess they underestimated how much the loss of revenue from giving up the CB linear market would effect them.

I doubt toshiba halting the production of the 2290 and 2879 hurt their profit margin much lol. The transistors are just a small drop in the pond of all the products they have made/make.
More important issue with this news is that Toshiba bought Westinghouse that built our sub and warship nuke engine power plants. Hope for our military's sake they don't say in a few years "well we don't make that part anymore so you'll have to find a Chinese substitute"
