Greetings gurus, I am in the Philippines are we have a new band allocation on 60m. Fortunately, we are allowed to work any frequency from 5.351.5 to 5.366.5 without channel restrictions. So here's my question, is there any mod that can be done to my IC735 to make it tx on 60m?

Thanks in advance.

that works Gary. it unlocks everything from about 1.6-30 MHz. I miss my IC-735. :( It had one damn fine receiver with bulletproof filters in it.

Thanks guys. I need to take a look inside. It's had the mars mod done(maybe?) since it already transmits out of band. When I'm at 60m(5357 specifically) and press the ptt on FM, display changes from rx to tx but no power out. On SSB, same thing but still no power out when I speak into the mike.

OK the mod listed above IS the MARS mod so if your radio TX's anywhere more than 100KHz outside the bands then it has already been done. The IC-735 will TX +/- 100 KHz either side of the ham bands straight out of the box but the MARS mod enables it to TX EVERYWHERE. If you have no power out it may need a VCO alignment. I had a similar issue with mine many years ago. I could watch the power meter while spinning the VFO and watch the power roll right off to nothing. I had to tweak the VCO and after that all was good again. I have NO idea what component I needed to adjust however as that was a LONG time ago.

Thanks so much CK! I still haven't looked inside but I tried transmitting at 27.555 and no power out. Seems like I need to do the mars mod.

I really thought that this radio had been modded since I'm on 7395 a lot. Ooops! I take the fifth on that.

Thanks so much guys.

Well 7395 is less than 100KHz outside the 40m band so it would work there with the mod. Sounds like all you need to do is clip the end of D33 and D34 and you should be all set.

i would like to open 60 meters on my kenwood.
but the filters ate no right for that band.
better leave well enough alone. im speaking of myself
