I currently have an Antron 99 for a base station antenna but have recently bought a used super perpetrator antenna and was wondering how close i can put these two together? They wouldn't be running at the same time i would install a coax switch. I would rather have them both in the air but if i have to i will switch them out.

Definitely the Penetrator 500 ....... You will need to "tune" the Penetrator for the 11 meter band. Mine ended up at 22' 6" in length from very bottom to top of vertical.
20' apart measured from center of antenna to center of antenna will be just fine, as long as only one antenna is used at a time. Disconnect coax going to unused antenna.
As stated above, 36' apart if not disconnecting the unused antenna coax.

Nothing wrong with either antenna but please note that the P 500 will go up in SWRS when it rains or is damp out..
i wonder if something like flexseal spray would stop that sprayed all around the base and coax conector. maybe yours was getting into the coax not the antenna.dont seem right theyd build an antenna to go up in swrs when it gets wet

I have tried everything. I have owned several p 500 penetrator antennas and they all had the same problem. I also own several other aluminum antennas with coils in the bottom that all go nuts in moisture. I ended up giving up and i bought an i maxx 2000 and dont have any rain issues.

Yes, my Penetrator 500 does raise the VSWR reading when rained on. But, not by a bunch. My VSWR stays below 2.0 ......
All my connections are sealed with self sealing silicone wrap, and that is sealed with Super 88 all weather tape.

All antennas with an external tuning circuit (that is all aluminum antennas that I am aware of) will have a small change in tuning while wet. The slight increase in SWR just because of rain on such antennas is no big deal, certainly not enough to be concerned over, and it will go back once said water evaporates. Their is no need to worry just because of this minor effect...
