DOUBLE PL-259 CONNECTOR

I would keep an eye out for eBay auctions. I spent $60 and and now have enough assorted connectors to last a few lifetimes. Quality silver plated connectors are easy to spot in pics.

I'm probably the most loopy member WWDX. If others have noticed at least I'll be remembered for something. Lol

It was easier for me to drop the $31. I actually did check out ebay and every single connector (used or new) was mostly Chinese junk. I didn't see a single Amphanol double barrel pl-259 connector. In all honesty I don't think I would have even purchased a used Amphanol had one been available. I don't like buying those types of parts used if they're still produced. My disability means I have to get someone to install it for me. Getting a bad one and not knowing if it is in 100% working order until it's installed and tested isn't worth the. trouble that it could cause me. It's only money right? Lol. Ps. I get where you're coming from. But being I need someone other than myself to install items like that it's just better for me to buy a brand new high quality product produced by a reputable company. Having to ask someone to do me the same favorite twice is not something I enjoy doing. It might be difficult for others to understand where I'm coming from. And I understand that. It's difficult to understand certain situations of course God forbid be in my particular situation. 73's

If time and money are not a major concern, I understand completely. I can tell you that having extra connectors can help tremendously when troubleshooting coax problems, and your help would appreciate that.

Hello Sonar and all: Yeah that's a good call doing things right, its cheaper and easier in the long run.

I put up a Sigma 4 Antenna once trying to make contact with some Australian stations coming in on skip one rainy and very windy night. Standing on the ladder to fix a intermittent connection in the pouring rain and wind my wife is yelling up at me whats wrong with you! Its not me its this crummy antenna I replied.

The SWR changed with different height's of the Sigma 4 antenna, and the intermittent connection was driving me to drink. Drizzling rain water taking on the radio they said Jay your signal is breaking up and your signal is way down, try adjusting your SWR on the antenna. That was a help.

Long story shortened... A few days later I took the antenna down and replaced the SO-239 connector and found another intermittent connection in the Gamma Match. All better with taking my time.

There was a short period of time while keying up I'd get a quick (very quick) high SWR spike. It would immediately drop back down. It eventually stopped and I never figured out what caused it. If you read my reply you might've understood that in the rush to get on the air I made many mistakes. I specifically stressed that. I don't know why you're having such a difficult time understanding what I explained was happening?
