At my sister's in the Catskills..

Ranger 296DX, Alinco DXSR-8T, Kenwood TMv-71a, Yaesu 757GX, Uniden 122XL, etc..

Got the A99 at 40' to tip.. (about 9' higher than in PA). Used 26' of top rail and bottom 2' are in concrete and top is fastened on side with 4" standoff thru facia and the 2*8 up there behind that. Only about 9' is above the roof edge..

And my end-fed is about 88' vs the old 39' I had in PA.. so I should be able to tune 80m easier and maybe 160m as well..

Testing with the end-fed I can tune 3/5/7/14/21 mhz so I'm happy. Used my 17' of counterpoise. Would like to 'choke' it, but need to save some $.. don't have any spare coax at the moment.

Overall happy with the install.

Thanks all for the replies..

Reactions: Sonar and S&W357
Apparently for the last 2-3 days after pulling the 1:1 choke off (had no RF increase and no seen bleed into the shack or house) and/or having skip rolling all of NC, TN, GA, IL, and even Iowa seemed easier.. had about 27 contacts today and about 20+ yesterday.. so I am happy with the new height of the A99..

I am wondering if the mast pipe and endfed with it's counterpoise is acting like a ground plane maybe for the A99.

Got awesome reports on audio quality running the Ranger 296DX w/TS350..

Everyone saying 'don't change nothin' (y)

Hmmm.....have my StarBuster, 102" whip with HD Spring/ 3 GP rods, up 36'......used to have a 100' cable dog run close to my antenna mast, but moved it. Now not as many contacts. I'll try running another 100' wire from mast out to original location and see if it improves. Thanks for the thought about your endfed acting as counterpoise. (y)

Rumor has it if you stick a vertical (like A99/2000) above a beam if can happen in that instance, that got me wondering on this.. my endfed is about 9' off the ground and on same mast pipe holding the A99.. I did use a nylon standoff on the end-fed but you never know.
