I did the AT-6666 thing..

the AT6666 is the way to go. like porkchop said after you get the items turned on you want you do not have to mess with the menu any more. at least I do not have to touch mine now. only took about 30 min to set it all up and that was because I had to read the owners manual to figure out what controlled what. adjusted it on my base bench then just stuck it in my mobile

Well, as a super whack-pack Stryker 955 runs $900 from New Mexico (either from the back gate off Epstein’s ranch, or from the hidden-in-plain-sight entrance to a D.U.M.B.; life is tough as a gate guard in a leaky motorhome), how can you go wrong with those?

Hell, buy ‘em all.
What are you being serious?? $900 for a 955 with an Alignment? You can buy an older but in great shape real HF rig for that sort of money! That is waaaayyy too much money for that sort of radio!

You got to dig a bit deeper into that, there’s a punch there. Folklore tells of a mighty tuner that makes that $900 955 greater than any HF rig known to man. It’s been told that if you open the covers, a mystical and magical aura escapes from it and returns to that which it came.

No one can replicate it, not Yeasu, not Icom, not Kenwood. It’s questionable if the hand of God could do such fine handy work.

It's not money, you have not bought it buy paid the fee to be in its presence. You don't even turn it on, it just senses a human coming near it. Once you key the mic the angels of God come upon you and whisps of your voice glow from your mouth. You are not heard but you mind meld with the other operator. $900 too much? No amount of money is enough for this kind of silicon splendor...

Due to my idiocy. My order hopefully processes today and gets to my tech by Thursday evening with 'Prime'.

He's going to set for a clean wave and about 50/50 AM and SSB for me.

We had some discussions on this back and forth and 45-50 still delivered clean waves for him on these in past experience with the same model.

A clean 45-50 is better than a crappy splattering 70-75 some techs are doing IMO.

I figured also I can get out with the R296 doing 8-10w on SSB and skip, so 45-50 should help abit with some pileups..

Was pondering maxing out 2 CC for a TS500 and just run it with my Ranger 296 which gets great audio reports, but the $500 and then a bigger PS kinda killed that thought.

Also the ex-wife got me a $20 Amzn gift card for my b-day on Sunday, so the radio is $241 shipped with tax and all after the 5% too they had on it.

Stay tuned.
