Sounds like a real ZERO that you trusted with a real radio.I bet he can't pee in an upright toilet without it running down his leg.The little bit of extra output power is not worth the mod either since nobody will see or hear the difference? LOL

Big mistake! You do not need more than the radio will do natively

EXACTLY!! NEVER mod a ham radio for more power. They are built with headroom and are meant to be run within that range. They will typical put out about one half to two thirds what they are capable of however the extra heat and burnt traces from too much current is not worth it. Squeezing every last watt out is asking for trouble and you found that trouble already.

Some folks have called that,CB Mentality for years. So many have no idea what it takes to increase a signal just One S-Unit but think squeezing every watt that the finals will do is a great idea never considering the affects on the radio or what it actually does for the actual signal on the air. More power is not always better.

Matt is a great Tech.
I highly recommend him too.

He fixed one of my rigs that took a dump 1 (yes one) day before the warrantee expired.

Thats the real truth, it died 1 day b4 it expired, Heck, I don't think I would really believe it if some one told me that, but He never questioned it and fixed it under warranty.
