Have a Browning nmo 140 running a uniden with kL 203 the swrs are great with amp on when the amps off they skyrocket what's causing this?

I had the opposite effect. I am using their filter snd also bonded all doors, hood, hatch and exhaust. Where are checking the SWR? Check it after the amp.

The amp is the issue. Have you checked the swr with the amp out of the line?

Yea swrs are 1 and 1.2 without the amp just straight radio to antenna no amp

The amp is not un-keying properly most likely but I never use amps so I am not an amp expert

where is the swr meter in the feedline?
it should be between the amp and the antenna
