Well fellas, with techs around my area retiring and just getting really scarce I've decided to be the guinea pig for The radio garage. Several years back I bought a ranger tr-966 and never got a chance to put it in service because it's a big box radio that won't fit in any of the trucks I've driven. Well I pulled it out and sent it to Matt at the radio Garage for a full alignment so I can add it to my base setup if even only just to at least put it on as a stand by. We exchanged a few emails, seems to be a pretty stand up trustworthy guy so I'm expecting to receive goodresult.s. That said, I know some of you occasionally need work done so I'll report back to how it goes for me.

I had a 696-FD1 about ten years ago, it had a flag face plate. Got it from Doug at Custom CB Radio's. It had a viagra board with 120 channels on the middle three way switch, receive mod, and his audio mod. Great talking radio with nice ears. Only problem I had was it would drift like a Galaxy on SSB, drove me nuts so I sold it.

I had watched his videos the other day and even contacted him about working on the 148 but he's back logged til November...I was very impressed with him. The one thing that impressed me the most, other than his having the equipment AND knowing how to use it, was when he modulated to show power, he spoke in a normal voice at a normal volume. He wasn't yelling into the mic making banshee noises to get more swing.

Yes, he told me he had some power supply issues and hes backed up a bit.
I have a couple rigs that need attention.

I recently purchased a Connex 3300hp-zx from Matt, something he took in on trade. Had him recap it and he even posted this video.

Haven't had a chance to hook it up yet, trying to do a bit of cosmetic work to it first. Got a new face decal and some black aluminum knobs ordered, still looking for a replacement bezel (I also posted in group about that).

Hoping to have Matt switch around a few of the pots for me and remove the echo board.

I had the Texas Ranger 969WX a long long time ago (think it was around 2003-2004). Radio talked ok but the SSB drift was annoying in the mobile.
